Tim Shaw
Hi, I'm Tim. I live on the beautiful Isle of Man and have done so since moving here in January 1978 (yes, I am that old!). I married Georgina in 1989 and have 2 sons; my eldest son Matty has a DeltaStyled Revo Stage 2 Mk3 Focus ST hatch, and Ryan has a DeltaStyled Fiesta ST180. My family is my passion and I have a longstanding interest in vehicles and motorsport; favourite forms of motorsports are BTCC and Rallycross (RC X). I am also a life-long Manchester United fan too (pre-Fergie era). Officially I have no more plans for my car…well, that’s what I’ve told my wife! But other than a DeltaStyling rear spoiler for the eSTate, I am considering an Intercooler upgrade at some stage (but don’t let the wife know…)
As previously mentioned I have been interested in cars for as long as I can remember. I can recall swapping wheels and the like on my Corgi, Matchbox, Dinky cars and trucks from an early age. I have also modified the odd Mini in my time too, but the eSTate is by far and away the car I have modified the most. It all started by adding a set of mud flaps…and the rest, as they say, is history! Some say modifying cars is an addiction and once you start its hard to stop… I must agree…
Modifications: I’ve gone for a bit of extra power over stock by choosing Collins Performance’s CP300 performance package which consists of their CP2v2 map, (my car was one of the cars used for the development of this awesome map); Mongoose Turbo Back 3” Exhaust System with 4.5” tips and matching Sports Cat; full Steeda CAIS incl. Air Filter, Cross-over Pipe and Ram Air Snorkel.
I’ve also added a Steeda Clutch Pedal Assist Spring; Steeda Sound Symposer Delete; Auto Specialists Rear Engine Mount; Auto Specialists Quick Shifter; Mk3 Focus RS Brembo front brake setup; HEL Braided Brake Lines all round; Powerflex Uprated Front Wishbone Rear Bushes; Eibach Pro-Kit Performance 20mm lowering Spring Kit all round.
For a bit of added cosmetic protection a full set of Rallyflapz in 4mm Black PVC and Team Heko Smoked Wind Deflectors have been fitted.
OEM wheels have been replaced with a set of 18” Sparco Assetto Gara by OZ in Satin Black, shod with the obligatory Michelin PS4 tyres.
From a cosmetic perspective I’ve added a Tangerine Scream Shark Fin Aerial; Tangerine Scream Engine Bay Dress Up Kit (Coolant cover, Battery cover and Fuse box cover); Tangerine Scream Washer Fluid reservoir cap; Tangerine Scream Washer Jets; Tangerine Scream Bonnet Gas Strut Kit; Tangerine Scream & Gloss Black Mk3 Focus RS Engine Cover; Tangerine Scream oil dipstick; Tangerine Scream bonnet release catch and Gloss Black fluid cap covers all from Paintmodz.
To give the front end a slightly more aggressive, mean and moody look I’ve had a DeltaStyling S-R front Splitter fitted; black Zunsport front grille set; small, but fully road legal front and rear number plates, and Tangerine Scream colour coded headlight eyebrows.
To enhance the body styling a pair of Delta S-R side splitters and a Delta rear splitter have been added too. My eSTate was used for the design concept for the rear splitter. The front fog light surrounds, rear reflector surrounds and the 3 wiper arms have all been sprayed gloss black to complement DeltaStyling’s brilliant gloss black styling kit. All that's needed to finish the body styling is a Delta Styling rear wing/spoiler (I may have mentioned that already?)
The factory OEM dip and main beam bulbs have been replaced with Osram Night breaker Next Generation bulbs, and all the indicators, side lights and reversing lights have been upgraded to Autobeam LEDs.
In the cabin I’ve installed an SS-Tuning gear knob with Tangerine Scream and Carbon Fibre trim, along with a matching leather gaiter trimmed with Tangerine Scream thread from Anthony McLaughlin; CEUK footwell LEDs; Collins Performance branded velour floor mats; Collins Performance branded Illuminated Door Sill Protectors, And finally an official Focus branded load area protection mat in the boot.
I think that’s it…for the moment!
Of all the modifications I have made everything has gone fairly well to be honest, so I’ve been pretty lucky in that respect. Plus, I do my research beforehand, use quality products and items from well-known, respected, knowledgeable businesses, be them large or small.
The most challenging so far is convincing DeltaStyling to design and release a rear spoiler for the eSTate.
When asked what has been my best project on my car to date? This is a difficult one to answer as “best” is such a subjective word. If pushed I would possibly have to say and purely going by people’s reactions is my engine bay due to the visual impact it makes. The Delta Styling low line kit gives my Focus eSTate a far more aggressive, lower and sportier look; exactly what I was after. The low line kit receives plenty of positive feedback and compliments the styling of the Focus perfectly. It just needs a DeltaStyling rear wing/spoiler!! (from the editor - we get it Tim, you'd like a DeltaStyling rear spoiler, we're working on it ♥)
I'm really happy with the car; the way it looks, the feedback it receives, and the way it drives!
There's nothing quite like driving it, cleaning it then standing back to admire and enjoy it!
Along with being a DeltaStyling Brand Ambassador, I am also proud to be Brand Ambassador for Collins Performance Engineering, and a Brand Advocate for Paintmodz Proform Ltd.
I'm also the co-founder and owner of Focus eSTate Owners / Longroofers Facebook group.
